Ron,

The Bently is a good general repair guide and thats all. It tells you just enough to get you in trouble and leaves you high and dry.

80g of litium grease?

Tell me, who in the hell actually measures 80g of the grease going in any wheel hub, or bearing?

Duhhhh!!

Now I've heard it all.

Furthermore, I don't even use lithium---I have been using a heaveir duty, high temp, zero wash-out, grease.

It's same heavy duty stuff that I have been using on Semi's for 25 years, and have experienced no problems with any bearing failure, in any vehicle I have ever serviced---period, and I have never measured the excact amout of the product.

Ever seen a wheel bearing grease tool?

It packs the bearing FULL of grease, and I have never seen any gauge on the tool indicating any measurement of quanity.

A blatant fool would have to stuff a hub so full of lubricant that it would blow the seals out, and perhaps in 20 to 30,000 miles, maybe cook the bearing, but I highly doubt that in Rich's case this was true.
