AFAIK, in all of history, no ground force has ever succeeded in Afghanistan. The losses of a ground invasion would exceed your worse nightmares. But if need be, it will be done but IMHO at great cost to everyone. Required Vanagon content: Over thirty years ago, my wife and I passed through Kabul on our way from Pakistan to Turkey. In those days, Kabul was on the "Hippy Migration Route" from Europe to India.
