<<Anyone out there convert (or even recommend) the built in gas heater to run intermittently off of a second battery?>>
As pointed out by Chris, with the auxiliary deep cycle battery, you can get more stationary time out of the BA-6. The fumes and noise are the negatives. This heater uses 10 amps and 1 pint of gas per hour on average. They run best over thirteen volts-a catalytic heater like an Olympian or Platinum Cat would be better for camping.
