Subject: Sightings in Indy, More cup holders and Coolant Smell
Content-Type: text/plain; charset=us-ascii

For those of you in Vanagon saturated regions of the country pardon my post. In the Midwest (Indiana) they are somewhat of an oddity often drawing long looks, smiles and sometimes laughter from children ferried quickly down the highway in their Soccer Mom's minivan.

I spotted two Vanagons on Saturday morning in Indianapolis. Coming off of I-465 onto Michigan Road a saw a Silver Vanagon and got an enthusiastic wave--enough so to make me think they'd be on this list. A half mile later I spotted a white Syncro Vanagon parked beside White Castle. Anyone... anyone... ?

I am going to post pictures of the cupholders I found at Pep Boys in Indy. The base of the cupholders expands to fit within the dash console that is velcroed to the ashtray. The uppper part of the cupholder expands and contracts to fit different sized containers--as demonstrated in the photos I took. Don't think I have ever seen these mentioned on the list. IMHO, I think they are more functional than the folding kind I have seen mentioned. I will post these pictures to www.geocities.com/cr_rowland, click on the "Tinkerbell" link to see the pics.

I have a question about my '85 Westy, is it common to smell coolant when running the rear heater? I never notice the smell any other time.

Thanks. Chris
