Subject: Blown AC Compressor- Replacement Advice
Content-Type: text/plain; charset=us-ascii

Hello

My AC Compressor on my 90 Carat finally wnet this weekend with oil leaking out of the seal at a rapid rate. The system had been retrofit to 134a about two years ago. I imagine the increased pressure of the 134a system may have hastened the demise of the compressor.

Questions: Should I replace the compressor with the orginal equipment SD709 unit? Does anyone have an alternative that is designed for 134a pressures?

How much would a AC shop charge to replace a Vanagon compressor and dryer/reciever? (assuming that the rest of the system is sound)

Yes,I know it is coming to fall, but here in Southern California, AC is a year round need.

Thanks in Advance
