What if....

We capture binladen and any others associated with terrorism. To kill him makes him a martyr and in his eyes elevates him to "heaven" without passing go.

The most effective way would be to continue to convince the coalition to simply cough these b*st*rds up to a tribunal in the Hague with one Islamic member.

I think that we should:

Close our borders for thirty days to all "non-commuters" (commuter is a known international who regularly passes through immigration) who bear non-north american passports.

Impose a temporary ruling that allows us to deny admission to or detain any foreign national we deem suspicious at the immigration port for up to ninety days without charge. Doesn't violate his/her civil rights as they aren't US citizens. Would deter some from attempted immigration.

This "filters" the input.

For any and all illegal immigrants of known terrorist-sympathetic nations, immediate arrest and deportation.

Careful scrutiny of "students" not holding US citizenship from known terrorist-sympathetic nations, allowing them to continue studies under a very specific set of rules. If they do not intend to comply, immediate deportation. If they are found in violation, immediate deportation. Similar to a "parole-type" authority. After all they are here at our pleasure not theirs.

Careful scrutiny of legal non US citizen immigrants from known terrorist-sympathetic nations with similar restrictions and consequences.

Unfortunately this puts some well meaning but unfortunate souls under duress. So be it.

This filters some of the potential terrorists, not by race but by nationality. Profiling? Sure.

Conviction of terrorist acts inside the US and possessions has a mandatory life sentence with no possibility of parole, chopping kudzu in shackles in a mosquito infested environment and being visited daily by at least one family member of a terrorist casualty with his choice of non lethal weapons.

Solves at least part of the kudzu problem. Nobody killed only inconvenienced if innocent.

Waddya think, Unca Joel?
