Subject: Yellowstone Trip Report - Brief
Content-Type: text/plain; charset="US-ASCII"

Hello all,

My wife and I just completed a quick nine day trip to Yellowstone National Park and the Shoshone National Forest. We enjoyed beautiful weather and relatively small crowds during our stay. The absolute majesty of that land was a shock to two Ohioans used to a patchwork landscape of suburban sprawl and corporate farms. Yet even the beauty of Yellowstone Lake could not temper our despair as we sat by its shore last Tuesday morning.

We could not have asked more from our 1982 Westfalia Diesel. The van made the 3,870 mile round trip without a single problem averaging 27mpg. My only complaint with the stock 1.6 N.A is the obvious lack of top end speed. I will someday consider other (diesel) options but simply don't have the heart to pull such a flawless powerplant with now only 48,000 miles on it.

Thanks to all who gave us camping and diesel friendly road information. Next year Nova Scotia!
