Blake: I'm an avid biker (human powered) also. I put an older model Yakima rack on the back door of my Westy. Works great. It's out of the way for driving into garages and doesn't create any wind resistance. The best feature is that it locks the bike onto the car. In order to steal it someone would have to rip the rack off the back door somehow. I don't used the back door much to acces the inside but it still operates if needed. My bike is only 25 lbs. so not that difficult to use the bottom bar as a "handle" to lift the gate. Bob

"I have these towers too. I originally bought them to do it without
drilling for my bike and I had planned on putting then above the luggage rack. My plan was tha the bikes could sit there and the top could still go up and down.
I was totally excited when I put them on and everything looked great. I
then went to shut my drivers side door and the clearance wasn't for the
door to shut without fiddling with it. So, I put the racks above the
poptop and left them there for a while. I finally drilled the holes and
my rack is now bolted to the roof."

b

Bob Stevens
Don't count the days,
