Well, I have gotten the idle speed problem worked out pretty well (idle switch adjustment, oxy sensor, vacume leak) Now I'd like to try for ignition timing. I checked Bentley, and it indicates some VW tool. Can anyone walk me through timing a digijet engine with a timing light and nothing else? I have a timing light, but have never really used it. I assume: Pull idle stabilizer plugs and plug together Pull distributor vacume lines Clamp induction wire on spark plug lead (which one) Shine on pulley. What do I look for here? What are the degrees, and how do I measure? How do I measure timing advance? Please help. Also, I never got any response about the power steering idle boost switch. I know one wire goes to the boost switch at front right of engine compartment. Where does the other one come from? Someone with an '85 with p/s please help. Thanks again, Peter |
