Wait for it... they're working on LED headlights. LED tail and indicator units could be made in a "diffuse" style. That is, clusters separate LEDs set into vehicle's sheetmetal skin with some distance between the individual LEDs. Set in any shape you like... say a VW symbol. Inconspicuous when not switched on, but glaring when activated. I'd thought of this for putting such units into windshield pillars and trunklid of the Bugaru roadster I was thinking of building (or is that unbuilding?). Maybe a large blue VW symbol built into the side of a van?
