Subject: '87 Automatic acceleration

Hello all, after driving my '87 Vanagon GL with the automatic around the hilly rural area that I live in a question comes to mind... Is there any way (other than an engine swap) to improve the take off performance?

Another person had posted about the stiffness of the accelerator pedal, mine seems stiff also and kicking it down in to 2nd is possible but hard to do at times.

I also did my first oil change this weekend. Wonderful, it sure beats my other vehicles on ease of this job. However, when the book says not to overfill, its not kidding. I did overfill just a little and the van ran noisly and bad. I drained a little so it was back down to the middle of the hi and lo areas on the dipstick. It ran fine after doing this. hmmm... Tony
