Subject: Do I really need the Idle Stabilizer Valve?
Content-Type: text/plain; charset="iso-8859-1"

Hello all,

Not long ago, my bus started idling very high, and surging randomly. At idle (as high as 2800 rpm) I could pinch the hose going from the Idle Stabilizer Valve to the AFM and idle would return to normal. I even tried replacing the ISV.

I found that if I disconnected the ISV, the bus would idle perfectly (just a little low on startup). So, this is the way I've been running it ever since.

So, to my question. This bus originally had A/C and Power Steering. I've pulled both of these (replaced PS with a manual rack). Since the ISV is used in conjunction with the A/C and PS, do I really need to have it installed? Betsy's been running perfectly without it (at least 2000 miles now).

As always, Thanks in advance!
