Jeff,

I guess one person's idea of a good paint job, and mine are two different things.

My first experience at refinishing vehicles was at Earl Scheib, and Uncle Earl had his own plant making the paint, and it came in 55 gal drums---It was garbage, and so was the prep work.

Then when Maaco started it's franchises, here in the Chicago area, I went there for awhile----same thing. More Ca-Ca paint, more jipo prep.

Think about this----How can they refinish a vehicle for less than the price of a gallon of paint?

Last cab and hood I painted on a conventional Mack truck ( which has less surface area than a Vanagon ) the paint alone cost $600.00. And then tack the labor, and the rest of the refinishing materials on top of that.

So tell me--- What kind of paint job do you think your really getting at Maaco?

This is what you get---

Cave and pave---scuff and squirt ---fluff and buff--and out the door.

If this makes you happy---Go for it.
