Living only a couple hundred miles north of the border, rumor has it that it is (or used to be) common practice for the upholsterers to stuff their stash in your seats. Their partners in the US would then break into your vehicle and slice open the seats sometime over the next few days. Insurance companies just loved this practice!

I had the my FJ55 Toyota Landcruiser painted, upholstered, and carpeted for $960. I did have trouble at the border. The customs guy did not like the idea that my vehicle was being upholstered in my absence. He suspected I made have had some goodies stashed in there. Nothing found but they held me at the INS station for a good 4+ hours while the dogs sniffed around my car. Maybe it's because I look Amurdekan?!? > > BenT
