Subject: A Yukon gal and her Westy need help
Content-Type: text/plain; charset=US-ASCII

Dear folks:

I am needing your advice on my '91 Westy. She is running quite rough when out on the open highway (though not around town). As you can imagine there is not a lot of mechanical options to pick from in the Yukon (no VW shop) so I thought I would give this group a try.

Symptoms:

*Sudden lurching when driving on the highway (usually after 10-15 minutes). *With the lurching comes a loss of power (press on the gas and nothing happens for about 30 seconds). *Lurching happens intermittently. *More pronounced when going up hills. *Black smoke following "lurch".

What I have tried:

* I just replaced the airflow meter and put in a new one. * I replaced the wiring harness (p/n025906302) a year ago. * I don't drive it in the winter. * Checked the wiring. * It has an new engine... only 2year old (and only used in the summer)

Any thoughts?

Many thanks, Lyn Hartley Whitehorse, Yukon
