Hi Lyn,

Sorry to hear of your problems. I've experienced these symptoms before on my 89 Syncro Westy. The problem was a leak in the connector pipe where the o2 sensor is connected. The O2 was getting faulty readings because the exhaust was leaking at the flange. Not by much but enough to throw off the computer.

Try running with the O2 sensor unplugged and this should remediate your problems. If this does it, check your exhaust system to make sure there are no leaks and you may need a new o2 sensor.

The O2 sensor takes a big funky socket or a big wrench without much leverage room to work to loosen it if it has been burned in place for a while even though it is not supposed to be torqued to much.

Hope this helps, Joel 89 Syncro Westy MV Rochester NY --- Lyn Hartley <hartleyl@INAC.GC.CA> wrote: > Dear folks: > > I am needing your advice on my '91 Westy.
