Subject: 87 automatic- acceleration off idle
Comments: To: Anthony Bailey <abailey@MAC.COM>

Hi Anthony,

I have an automatic, and improved my off line response by adjusting the afm spring and idle mixture. I've written about this a great deal in the past. I could walk you through it or you can look at related posts on adjusting the fuel injection system.

The first check is to warm the motor up, disconnect the O2 sensor, and connect a Voltmeter to the O2 sensor. The computer in now in open loop mode, and you should be reading the O2 voltage, which correlates to mixture as .3 volt lean .86 volt max power. If you can do that test first it could help. Also I suggest that your fuel pressure and vacuum at idle be confirmed. Vacuum at 12" or so, and Fuel pressure at 29 or so with vacuum, and 36 or so with the vacuum line disconnected. Rpm should be 840

Sincerely,

Mark Keller
