I installed a Rockford Fosgate RFX-9000 in my 85 van a couple weeks ago and I had to get a 1/2 inch thick black plastic spacer to fit between the radio "sleeve" (its the "cage" that is installed in the dash opening and the radio slides into it) and the dashboard. I got the spacer at a local radio store, the radio I got online. I was all giddy when I first got the radio and anticipation was high as I was installing it when I suddenly realized it wouldn't fit!! AARRGH!! It was too long and the back of the radio was hitting the innards of the dash, needless to say, boy was I upset. Then a friend turned me onto the radio shop and I found the spacer, now life is good. It fits perfect and looks good too, the black spacer is barely noticeable against the brown dash. I also had to bend that stock metal radio bracket dealie in the dash up and away to make room. Have I made this post long enough yet? I have pics if anyone wants a look.
