No need to disconnect vacuum lines. Jump idle stabilizer as you said. Connect timing light, using No.1 spark plug wire. Make sure idle is still in spec. 850 rpm or so. IF necessary adjust idle by turning large slotted screw on top of throttle body. Loosen dist. clamp bolt (10mm wrench) turn to adjust. "V" Notch is factory mark 5ATDC. "U" is TDC mark for adjusting valves, etc... Line it up with the case split. CCW advances timing, CW retards timing. You can try running at the TDC mark. I am running 4 BTDC.
