        I have been meaning to experiment with this. I went as far as
digging out a big bag of super bright LEDs I purchased long ago. Been
playing around with how many LEDs I need to put in series for optimal
brightness. It looks like each unit will draw about one tenth the current
as the incandescent bulb it replaces. I figure this will mess up the
blink rate of the turn signals. I have seen solid state flasher units
with programmable rates so that should fix that problem. One advantage I
can think of is the four way flashers, running on battery alone, should
run for about a week!
