Thanks to everyone who sent diagrams, directions, pictures and instructions about programming our (I think) one of a kind radio in our Passat. We had all but given up when our daughter took her turn at it..she claims she is lucky with these things. She pushed every combination of buttons you could think of and the safe mode was still there. Just as we were about to give up the number 1000 flashed up, I put the code in then we looked at each other as said "now what?" . She pushed the same buttons again and SAFE came up again...but just for a second then low and behold......TUNES! My faith in Gen-X or Genex (what-everrrr...) Is restored!

Again thanks to everyone who helped out. See some of you this weekend at Campers on Cape Cod!
