Hello Mark,

The cat end is flared so that the muffler pipe goes inside it about one inch + and then you install a saddle clamp with a donut---the BusDepot has them, and they are about $15.00--- to clamp the whole thing together and form an air tight seal. The clamp has a flared washer with it that matches the flare on the cat pipe, and both flares go inside the two sections of the clamp with the donut between them as you bolt it together.
