Hey Volks - Just got the old girl back from an alignment job, and (of course!) it's never just as simple as signing, paying and leaving...there's USUALLY some more to talk about, right?! This time Roxy needs new brake pads and rotors as well. Apparently the rotors have been turned past the minimum thickness of .5xx and should have been replaced at the last servicing - OH...oh. So the allignment guy didn't even want to tell me the VW dealership parts cost over the phone (like I was going to be shocked at the high prices of VW parts). Anyway, I found the pads and rotors in my Bus Depot catalog and wondering if there are any other parts I should order at the same time to complete a brake job like this. Is this something that should be left up to the pros, or is it worth saving some jing doing it myself? I know there are also some oversized rotors available from Ken @Vanagain(??) or Projekt Zwei maybe(??) Are these worth the extra for better braking? Thanks for input, Scott K. 88 Westy |
