Subject: Double T Trouble
Content-Type: text/plain; charset=us-ascii
Dear Volks,
I'm having a difficult time replacing the Double T Piece 1.9L Vanagon
part #025 121 438 for my 85 Westie. It left me stranded on the side of
the freeway last week and now it seems VW has discontinued the part!!!
The Bus Depot has had it backordered for six weeks and the dealer was
sent a part called 025 121 438B that looked nothing like what I need
and certainly could not function as a replacement. The part I need is a
flange piece that goes between the coolant reservoir and the hoses that
circulate the coolant. It looks like a big H or a "double T." Why would
VW discontinue this? I have a 2.1 rebuilt engine in my van...it has not
affected the coolant system tho which is still the one for 1.9. Will I
have to upgrade to an 86 coolant reservoir & hoses? Is this possible?
My part developed a hairline split along the middle but not on the
seam! Strange on such a heavy plastic part I would think.
Thanks in advance for any helpful suggestions,
Rick
85 Westie
