Subject: Anyone have a used timing belt cover for a 1.9l diesel block?
Content-Type: text/plain; charset="iso-8859-1"
Maynard, the other morning I went to finally try and install my 1.6l timing
belt cover on my newly installed 1.9l NA motor. I had heard that you had to
make a few snips, but what I found was more then that.
My timing belt cover will have to be cut quite a bit to clear the pump
sprocket and will not cover that area after cut out, obviously. The center
bolt will not line up in the middle of the block to the small bracket that
bolts to the block behind the timing belt. This is knew from having the
motor on the engine stand and test fitting at that time without the pump on
the block.
ANYWAY, does ANYONE know if a true 1.9l timing belt cover will fix better, I
feel there are 2 many modifications I will have to do to make this timing
cover fit nicely, so I would rather get a used 1.9l timing belt cover if it
will fit.
Again, I have a 1.6l head on a 1.9l block, but I think the dimensions are
about the same.
I have about 1K on the motor with no timing belt cover, but I am pushing my
luck here.
Thanks,
