There is another frequent problem with front heater valve control. Metal wire that opens and closes valve gets kinked between lever and cable holder. When this happens heater control feels easy to move but wan't stay in open or closed position. To fix it instrument cluster has to be removed and wire straigtened. It is stiff but can be bent. Ideal solution here is to abandon that valve and install one above the floor behind large plastic cover. There is just enough room to splice it into tubing going to heater. Control wire can be rerouted too. Valve i used came from Honda car. Why do it? 60% more flow. 100% more reliable. Much easier to access.Same size tubing. Installation takes some tinkering, i will be taking photos of installation and will post it later. Oh, Listees, My front heater valve in my '85 Westy seems to be jammed open. I got the lever moved over to the left and the wire is in the housing but still heat comes out. Anyone know how to get at that valve to shut it manually, and what to do to fix it so that the lever operates it? TIA Mike |
