This is the Westfalia project I have been dreaming of but unfortunately, due to lack of time cannot finish. When I bought it back in '99 it was just a basic '82 Diesel Westy with the original 1.6l engine. Well, my intent from the start was to hire a local mechanic that I had dealings with to install a 2.0l 5 cylinder TD from an '84 Audi into the van using South African OEM parts. Once I purchased it, I drove it strait to my mechanic's shop to begin the conversion process. My mechanic and I were able to round up all of the necessary parts to make the conversion, but as luck would have it, the mechanic was never able to finish the job due to bankruptcy. Now, I have everything sitting in my garage, ready to go, but no time to do it. Here is what I have: 1982 Diesel Westy - Canadian model (speedo in Km/h) - 209,000 Km (approx .129,900 Mi.) - Bronze in color - No rust, only minor body damage - Brand new Peerless tires - No broken windows - Fair overall condition Conversion parts - 1984 Audi 2.0l 5 cyl. Turbo Diesel engine - 83 hp@ 4500rpm; 127 lb.ft.@ 2800 rpm (40K mi. on rebuild) - Brand new South American 5 cyl. bell housing - Brand new South American clutch slave cylinder bracket - Heavy duty starter - Flywheel and clutch components - Fabricated motor mounts for conversion - Alternator bracket - Various tubes, hoses... - Exhaust flanges - Original 4 sp. diesel transmission What is needed - Exhaust system would need to be fabricated - Intake system (we were going to use a K&N) - Pilot bearing for transmission would need to be located or fabricated from brass or soft steel - Battery I believe that the right person could either make a nice profit on this, or end up with a really sweet + fuel efficient camper. I am asking $2300, negotiable (I have a great deal more into it than that but must sacrifice).
