I've used a doohicky called a Power Tip on a couple of different antennas moderate results. It's a smoked-plastic teardrop shape that fits over the tip of the antenna. Inside the plastic is some copper that increases the reception abilities (insert thoughtful and scientific explanation here) of your radio in some instances. I recall seeing it advertised in a few places where it was claimed that these items were used in Desert Storm to increase reception on military vehicles. I've seen it for sale at www.sportsmansguide.com under Power Tip, WXO-37846, $6.97 each. FWIW, this might be prone to theft depending on the neighborhood in which you park, and the integrity of the people around it.
