Yup. I read the manual and did it, but it's not relevant because the nut is FROM BELOW the mounting mechanism and not from behind the mirror glass.

Sorry, nope...;-) there's nothing to be seen from the top side of the hinge.

I tried using a small chisel which is about the right width, taking care not to damage the wires, but gravity as well as the spring work against you trying to get the nut aligned enough to the threaded pipe to get it started on the thread. IMO it would be much easier with the mirror off the door and inverted. Just trying to avoid the hassle (the mounting screws are locked from within the door with additional nuts against theft...).

Right-on Malcolm, but thanks for trying... I think I'll try a bit more before I resort to removing the mirror.
