Is the clutch grabbing during engagement, or just grabbing without warning with the pedal still depressed? If the latter, then your problem is likely a pilot bearing - this happened to me a few years ago. The pilot bearing comes apart and grabs the mainshaft without warning.

Even if it's not the above problem, I suggest replacing the pilot bearing and packing with moly grease any time you have the trans out.

To replace the seal, you'll need to drop the trans, which isn't all that hard given the space and time. I would guess you're looking at ~3 hours labour at least for a shop to do it. I did mine in about 5 hours the first time, but I just replaced the pilot bearing, not the main seal, which was a mistake. Now it appears my main seal is leaking, go figure...
