I will crawl under my van tomorrow and see what my tranny says. I know mine is from an 82 Air Cooled Vanagon transporter.

Volks,

I am in the middle of putting a 1989 Jetta Digifant I4 engine in an 82 Diesel and from what I read the transmission of choice is one out of an 1980-83 Air Cooled Vanagon. The way I read Bentley it looks like I need a tranny with a "DK" code on it?

Has anyone ever come across a air cooled unit in a "DM" case? I purchased a tranny from someone locally who says its from an Air Cooled Van, it definitely has an Air Cooled Bellhousing (starter mounted to side), but it is marked with "DM" code letters, making it a Diesel Tranny? (I think).

If this is not an Air Cooled Tranny does anyone have a good used unit for sale?

Thanks for you help,

Joe Omaha, NE
