Well, jeez, you don't need to move! I think the tale is a sorry statement on people's willingness to help others facing obvious (and simple) problems, but if we all demonstrate "proper" behaviour to others through our own actions, maybe we can improve the situation. Maybe in the future everyone will get out of their cars to help Julianna (or whomever) out instead of sitting in their cars and honking.

Many people do tend to freak out when things don't go perfectly. Instead of trying to fix the situation, people honk. Good on Julianna for grabbing a wrench and fixing the problem. Vanagon self-reliance: gotta love it.

Are people really that edgy down in the states? Why did they run away (or were scared??)? Did they think Julianna was going to hit them with the wrench for honking? Or that it was a set up for a bomb or something? It seems kind of extreme to me. Am I missing something?
