As a former Alfa owner, I always joked that "fiat" was the Latin verb "to laugh"....

A friend had a Fiat coupe in the early 70s. The local mechanic pulled a lot of the wiring loose working on the airconditioning and couldn't remember how to hook them back up. Then he disovered that all the wires from the dash to the engine compartment changed colors crossing the firewall! Of course there was no wiring diagram.

At least our anal German vehicles have consistent wiring-- across the firewall, and across the years!
