Often there is a considerable amount of wear on the rear drums. After backing off the adjusters (if they aren't locked up) you can use a rubber hammer to knock the drums loose after removing the one or two small bolts on the surface of the drum. It doesn't hurt to spray a little rust remover on the center area of the drum where it centers on the bearing carrier. In addition it is sometimes helpful to back off the emergency brake cable adjusting bolt so it does not impair the removal of the drums.
