Ron, Thanks for your reply. If the Kolbenschmidt bearing, part# 025198461A, is the blue one sold by VW dealer, it is .001 (1/1000) size, then it would be bigger than the red at .00025 (1/4000) size. Guess Kolbenschmidt figures that most used engines could use the blue dot, as very slightly larger than the red dot, even without resurfacing crankshaft or boring out the case. Does that make sense?

The other bearing that you mention, as .010 oversized, part # 025 198 463A, is substantially larger, like in cases of resurfacing the crankshaft, or realigning the case. Harald '90 westy
