We've owned our 83.5 for eleven years. In that time, I've resealed one head, replaced one water pump, replaced one clutch, four shocks and a couple sets of tires. I've also driven it nearly 100k miles. It currently has 209k miles on it and uses no oil between changes. Friday we experienced the dreaded 3/4 slider failure in the trans. Monday I'll pick up a "good" used trans and pop it in. I fully expect another 100 to 150k out of this vehicle. I wish that all engines were as unreliable as the wasserboxer. A subie might be nice, and if I had a Westy I might think about it. But probably not for long. Jim |
