When living in Alaska, I was driving along the Seward Highway in Turnagain Pass outside of Anchorage and was the first on the scene where a motorhome with folks up from the Lower 48 had collided head-on with Alaska's biggest deer ... a big in-the-prime bull moose. Something had spooked the moose -- probably a bear -- and he came tearing out of the brush on a run - right smack into the front end of the motor home. Fortunately the only parties killed in the collision were the moose and the motorhome. The older couple driving were shaken and bruised. But the front end of that motor home was demolished. That bully boy must'a weighed in around 1500 lbs. Ruined the old folks vacation. They were really upset about killing that moose. John Rodgers 88 GL Driver with some near mooses but no direct hits |
