Subject:      It's getting colder!

It's getting colder, and the thought of those cold Ohio winters turns my attention to my 83.5 water cooled Vanagon heater.  Right now, there is ALWAYS outside air coming into the cab, there is no way to turn it off.  When I have the heat on, this air does get warm, but not REAL hot.  I'm thinking that with cold outside air coming in, it takes that much more to heat it.  Idea: Block off the fresh air intake scoops behind the front grill and above the radiator to restrict the cold outside air from coming in and then the heater fan just blows already warmed inside air.  Question: Will this effect engine or water temperature at all, and is this a good or BAD idea. TIA
