You can buy spacers from a place called Autotech. They're about .75", are properly milled & come with the longer screw you'll need. They're a durable enough plastic/composite, but they aren't metal, so if your window gets stuck, don't haul on it extremely hard or you risk partially stripping the splines on the handle side. Even then you could still use it by attaching it on the handle side with epoxy.

They're website is http://www.autotech.com and the price sheet you want is http://www.autotech.com/price/price0401.pdf. They're called "Zender Window Crank Spacers" for $19.00.

Listmembers,

On the advice of someone's previous post to this list, I purchased a pair of Kenwood KFC-1068S speakers to replace the stock speakers in the doors of my 1982 diesel Westfalia. (In concert with the installation of an AIWA stereo/CD/MP3 player). I installed everything and put the doors back together to discover that the speaker grilles now interfere with the turning of the window handles! As I sat there pondering this, a vague memory of someone else on the list mentioning the interference problem came to me. I now assume the listmember who suggested the Kenwood speakers has power windows.

My question then: Can anyone suggest a work around short of replacing the speakers. One possible solution that came to me is to attach enough washers underneath the screw on the window handle that it would raise it away from the speaker grille. Has anyone else solved this problem?
