Subject: Low Power woes...
Content-Type: text/plain; charset="us-ascii"; format=flowed

Fellow vanagoneers

The other day, after a particularly rough ride through a cobblestone alley, my van started to run at about 1/2 power... By feathering the accelerator I could get her to lumber up to about 2200 RPM, maximum. My best guess was fuel pressure... SO, I crawl under the van and put my ear up to the fuel pump while it is running. Its noizy, making weird gurgling sounds and vibrating... I check the fuel filter, which is only a couple of months old... it is fine. So, I go to RetardZone and try to buy a pressure tester, but they dont have one that reads to a high enough PSI.

I gave it up to my hunch and replaced the fuel pump with a fancy (and really expensive) new one, but nothing has changed... Idles OK, revs OK in neutral while I am scratching my head in the engine bay, but lumbers under load, and seems starved past 2200 RPM.

If the FUEL PRESSURE REGULATOR has failed, could it cause these symptoms?

Darn, my wife is going to really give it to me over this little mis-diagnosis.

Please, any ideas about what this might be would be greatly appriciated.

-Jake.
