Subject: Raceware Head Bolts in a Diesel Vanagon w/o removing anything?

Hi y'all,

Well, I screwed up royally last night while cranking down my 1.6NA 12mm stretch head bolts - I loosened one about 25 degrees or so by mistake when I started out.... I ended up tightening them all down a quarter turn, but rather than "trying it out" and running it to see if it's OK, I've decided to bite the bullet and go w/ the Raceware Head studs. (The added luxury for me is that I'll no longer have to fret about whether or not the guy who rebuilt the engine torqued the heads down properly to start with!)

Anyway - my question is this. Can I install the Raceware head bolts w/ the engine in the Vanagon and w/o having to take out the rear cabinet in my Westy? Anyone done this? Seems like it might be a real tight fit.....

Thanks! John
