Working from memory, I am almost certain that the 1.9 is DH code and the 2.1 is MV. As far as the location of the code goes, I don't recall. On aircooled motors it's stamped into the top of the block, not sure if watercooled is the same. Of course, if the motor is still in the vehicle you can be reasonably certain by checking the year (pre-86 is 1.9L) or the exhaust configuration (if the port for the 02 sensor is in the pipe leading to the cat, rather than in the cat, it's a 1.9L exhaust).
