Subject: Exhaust gaskets on S&S

Just a follow-up on the S&S Headers exhaust system installation I did and reported on a few months back.

I just had the rear driver's side gasket blow out. I replaced it with one of the metal-reinforced ones that Bob Donalds gave me with my new 2.1 engine (still not installed...the old one keeps ticking strong at over 206K miles) from Boston Engine (www.bostonengine.com).

I think the problem was that the ones that came with the S&S were pretty cheap paperboard and it just blew out. Maybe I didn't snug up the bolts enough.

FWIW, the exhaust has a nice patina to it now, but I'm happy with the installation and the performance. My seat-of-the-pants dyno tells me there's more oomph than the standard exhaust. Love the rumble. >:->
