Volks, Popped the timing cover off last night to get a better view on the valve gasket cover (yup, it's leaking... :-) But anyway, I noticed then that the timing belt is rubbing against the rear edge/lip on the pulleys, and that it's worn slightly (basically, instead of a straight edge on the rear most side, it now has an angled edge). Is this acceptable? On my only other VW diesel, I know the timing belt was still squared on both sides when I finally pulled it off after 60K... I will eventually get to drive and enjoy this thing, I swear! <grins> THANKS! ~j. '82 Wet Westy |
