Hi, My conversion for my '88 wolfsburg was just under $4000, including shipping. Pictures don't do it justice, though. The kit is VERY complete, although you do have to use the fuel injectors, alternator, a/c compressor(if equipped), and power steering pump(if equipped) from your current setup. The only unplanned expense I ran into was my a/c system. I replaced the a/c hoses, condensor, dryer, and converted to r134a. The added power of the inline 4 cylinder is something you have to experience.
