I wasn't aware that there were ANY "Synchro" Vanagons available in 1996 or any other year...perhaps you meant a 1986 Syncro?

Or perhaps this vehicle you're describing actually has a battery within sight of the engine and alternator and ISN'T a Vanagon at all? When fooling with a [D]VOM around **MY** Vanagon, I don't usually have a spool of wire available to connect between one of the handy grounds in the engine compartment and the battery post in the battery compartment in the right front wheelwell...

Cleaning grounds has always been a GoodThing(tm) but it's never been a secret to those who take care of their ageing vehicles. However, thanks for the reminder...

Whatever...EXCEPT that the vehicle you're selling is the same as a Carat (with the exception of the Wolfsburg medallion] + the Country Homes conversion. It's NOT a "Westy"...
