Subject: Cleaning the Westy fiberglass top
Content-Type: text/plain; charset=us-ascii

Hi everyone. I have a 1980 Westfalia. The previous owner scratched the top a lot, so there are lots of places for mildew to grow on it. Being a neat-freak, I don't like the dark, mildewed look of many older Westfalias I see around. I want mine always to be bright.

This top seems messy to clean to me. You can use bleach or muriatic acid (stuff to get at mildew), but then it drips will drip down on the van. Any suggestions for harmlessly cleaning the fibreglas top? Once it is clean, maybe I should paint the top so I don't have to bother with it. Does that work out OK?

Thanks, Phil Hanson 1980 Westfalia.
