The hose will have an SAE grade on it. You have to find out what the rating is according to this identification and determine if it is suitable. The SAE standards are generally available information. The information I have for SAE hose acceptable for gasoline is: SAE 30R3---3/16" - 500 PSI ; 1/4" - 400 PSI. SAE 30R7 is rated at 50 PSI in those sizes. Check it out yourself before you use anything other than an authentic VW part.
