Hi folks,

I know this is back tracking a bit but when this discussion was on before someone mentioned fabricating this parts from copper fittings and a debate ensued about corrosion etc.

Anyway I've been TRYING to replace (yet another rounded or sheared nut/bolt/stud) the metal coolant pipe running from the side of the thermostat housing. Upon pulling this off it fell to bits in my hands. Anyway the joints on this pipe were copper. As clean and new as the day they were born, no corrosion, the surrounding steel had rusted away.

So I'd say one can be made up of copper.
