Did you use OEM O2 sensor? On my 84 Westy with a 91 Jetta 1.8. I used a cheep universal sensor and three weeks later the van ran so rich that unburned fuel came out the tail pipe and I could only get to 30 MPH. After paying the extra for the OEM Bosch sensor it's ran great. Andrew 1984 Westy "Speed Bump" 1996 VW Jetta Trek "Little Beep" (the wife's car)
